PROJECT: WINE LABEL DESIGN FOR LAURELIN
TOOLS: Adobe Illustrator, Paper & pencil
I was asked to design a wine label for a farm, Laurelin, in Franschhoek. They wanted an illustration of a photo with one of their beagles, Benji, on the label. It was a really fun project. The wine also tastes really good!
On the left is the original photo that was supplied. On the right my drawing in progress.
Although this might seem like a quick and easy task it was not quite. I used a lot of layers to combine all the different shapes, I only wanted to use two colours, so the shading was quite interesting. I used different shapes to create the shading. In the end we all decided that it looked better with just Benji on the label. It was a really nice challenge!
The printing was done by Hot Ink, they are really brilliant. The grey on the design came out looking silver & the silver works really well against the red wine.
This was the final artwork that was printed.
